THE OLD WORLD

A world long forgotten by time, with only mentions in old texts many deem to be myths. It was a world that was slowly fading into nothing. Those who know of this world only know of the strange structures rising towards the sky, gleaming as the sun hit them. The texts romanticize the expansive cities and culture of that time without a mention of its pending doom. The Mother God of this world was dying.

THE purge

Very few texts mention the Purge, especially in those romanticizing the Old World. It was often described as horrific while some described it as a cleansing. As the old Mother God faded away, another took its place, creating havoc upon the world below. Everything changed with a new world rising from the ashes of the old.

THE new world

With the rise of the New World, the few survivors go out into it to see that everything they had once known was gone. Thousands of years is what it took for civilization to rebuild, and the Old World was forgotten. Magick reclaimed its place in the world as beings with knowledge unlike any have seen before to guide the remaining survivors to an unseen future. Civilizations rise and fall as the new order shapes itself to what it is now.

KINGDOMS

Races

HUMAN

Humans were among the first races to exist in the world of Neasth’at and are the oldest out of the current mortal races. They had come from the Old World after the Mother God had destroyed that; however, they claimed a place in the New World. The Valor Kingdom resulted from the humans attempting to reclaim what they had lost in the old world, along with numerous smaller kingdoms that no longer exist. Over the years, their numbers have slowly been dwindling, becoming a rare sight among the population.

delm

Delms are a race that had evolved from the earlier survivors, altered by gods. They are the most abundant of the mortals and can be found in most parts of the world. While some may appear to be fully beast, many delms appear to be human with animalistic traits. Unlike humans, delms have enhanced senses and physical abilities. They are more attuned to magick than humans. Delms are omnivores by nature; however, some may have a stronger preference towards meat or plants depending on their animal traits.

Felum

Felums are considered being a subspecies of delm; however, it is uncertain if they are. All felums originate from the island that had descended from the heavens, Ok’uth. They were believed to be once angels that had lost their wings and developed characteristics similar to delm. What makes one a felum is not only being from the island but certain traits. Their fur has a very soft feathery texture, and their ears appear almost wing like in appearance. Some even have wing-like tips to their tails. Because of only originating from the island, a felum is a rare sight, especially a full-blooded one.

demon

Demons are not the traditional representation of those in long forgotten bibles. Many live among the other mortals or live in their own land. Other than their appearances, demons typically have a natural attunement to magic with no training. They live by a strict ranking system (1-12) that indicates the type of demons. The higher the rank, the more powerful they are. Many low rank demons are the ones to live among and are accepted by other mortals. Archdemons or the Demon Kings are considered being the highest ranked. There are only a few.

Dragon

Dragons are often considered to be immortal, and in some cultures, they are worshipped by the other mortals. They come in many shapes and sizes, each one unique next to the other. Dragons hoard treasures and knowledge that many adventurers attempt to steal, but it is forbidden in many lands to take the life of a dragon. It is even considered an omen when a dragon is slain by any that isn’t its kind. Like demons, dragons have a natural attunement to magic. Those that have a close relationship with mortals are able to transform into a humanoid form.

GODS

The gods suddenly appeared after the Purge to pave the way to the New World. Old gods that hid away, forgotten to the humans that once dominated the world. Some reformed into something entirely different. With their influences, the world reshaped itself around them, including the humans. There were many gods in the world; however, there were four that became known as the Tetra, symbolizing the rise of the New World.

With the rise of the sun, Hera appeared before the doomed creatures of the Old World to offer them salvation. In their salvation, she gave them another chance in the New World with knowledge of the gods. She descended from the heavens with what remained of it, the divine birthplace of Felums, Ou’tha. Hera is perceived as a forgiving god, creating warmth upon the Nalbathan Empire. Her dominion is filled to the brim with treasures and lavish luxuries, a comforting smoke often rolling from her pipe. She protected the throne and the Estmon family for the lifetime of the Nalbathan Empire. With this protection, many believe that the royal family is divine.

☼ | HERA

☾ | OKUTH

Like the moon, Okuth once revealed a person’s fate, their deepest desires, and more. He was once the center of the Nym Kingdom before those who worshiped him betrayed him. In his sleep, the eyes that revealed everything was gouged from his skull, stolen by high ranking officials seeking more power. Okuth went into a frenzy and caused the fall of the once thriving kingdom, before locking himself away in his tower. It was four hundred years before anyone could breach the tower, seeking his collection of knowledge. Okuth became greedy and possessive of his knowledge, his library, and was seeking more. He only shared it with those he deems worthy, such as Salem, who had awoken him from his deep slumber. It was Salem that formed the cult, The Moon’s Hand, and promised to return his eyes.

♢ | AMON

Gruff but nurturing, Amon was the only god to take in the remaining humans. Before the rise of the Valor Kingdom, he traveled from city state to city state, teaching the humans ancient magicks. He shared a love for the humans and wished for them to thrive in the New World. Over the years, Amon would encourage the humans to unite, and thus the Valor Kingdom was created under his guidance. The Academy of Magicks was created with the creation of the kingdom and is where he resides in. He provided more knowledge to the humans, along with access to his vast library. The only rule was not to use this knowledge for war. The king, after a hundred years, had attempted to conquer a neighboring kingdom, breaking Amon’s trust. Outraged, the god cursed the royal bloodline and declared he will no longer help the humans. Despite this, humans will always have a soft spot in Amon’s heart. No one has ever seen the god’s face.

☄ | THE WOLF

The Wolf is a god that rarely reveals themselves to the mortals that many believe they are a myth. For those who have seen the god, they describe them as a colossal beast, similar to a wolf, with lightning sparking from their deep blue fur. The Wolf roams the mountains of the North, protecting it from unwanted visitors. They only grant access to the unforgiving mountains if one is attempting their spiritual journey in becoming the Peacekeeper. Many believe the Wolf created the auroras that appear in the Northern skies, even the storms that ravage the Northern Kingdoms. The storms may result from the Wolf’s rage. The Northern Kingdoms revere the Wolf and would often pray towards the mountains.

MOTHER GODS

Mother Gods are beings that drift through the cosmos, bringing life or destruction. They create an endless cycle of death and life. Little is known about the elusive creatures that only have brief mentions in ancient tomes. In these small paragraphs, Mother Gods are described as a constant changing mass of stars and seems to have a white face. Life appears wherever they stand, unless their eyes are open. Only one individual has witnessed this and claimed that life around them at that point withered away. The one visual in these tomes was of a Mother God named Rye surrounding Neasth’at.

Numinis

Numinis are beings of unspeakable power, bestowed to them by the gods. Because of this, a numinis often lives a life of worship or luxury or is a leader. Each one is born with a mark that appears on any part of their body; however, there are times where it can appear later in life. This is referred to as the Blessing, a ward created by a god to provide protection from powerful magicks. The Blessing allows the numinis to easily tap into their magickal abilities, but it can cause them to become drained if they are not careful. When a numinis is using their abilities, their marks may glow, depending on the intensity of the magick. Each numinis has a unique ability that may be related to an element or the god who had gifted them the Blessing. Some abilities may have no relation to either. Many believe that a numinis is fated to become a god, but it has yet to be seen. Myths surrounding the numinis are the reason many live brief lives. One myth, in particular, is the cause for many numinis to perish. A tale of a warrior consuming the flesh of a numinis and gaining immortality; however, there is no evidence to support such a claim. Their numbers are few with the hunting and the rare selections from the gods.

Archdemons

Archdemons, known as Demon Kings, are at the top of the demon world. The rank only existed because of King, one of the first Demon Kings. Very few can gain this rank, and those who have earned it have the most influence over the demon race.

King

Little is known about King’s origins and nature. An angel who had betrayed the previous Mother God, while taking the remaining life force from them. With that power, he rose to the top of the demon race. The lower ranked demons revered him, and he kept the balance of power among the other Demon Kings. While he thrived in chaos, he never allied himself with anyone but himself, doing as he wished. There were times he had provoked a war and sit back to watch from his throne. The Demon King involved himself in affairs only to cause some mischief; however, he never allowed the other Demon Kings to do the same. King vanished from the world with little to no word of his whereabouts. Some even believe he is dead, but there were rumors that he was being chained by a god.

Ursula

Ursula was once human, barely surviving in the streets, before drinking the blood of an ancient dragon. The dragon had taken the young girl in as her own out of pity for the human. Under the dragon’s care, Ursula learned of magick, honing her skill until magick came to her naturally. She continued to drink the dragon’s blood, allowing it to slowly transform her body to what it is now. Her power grew the more blood she drank, and with this power, she planned her revenge. Over the years, Ursula became the Dragon Witch of the Wasteland. Many feared the name. Bounties were placed on her head, which encouraged those who were brave enough to track down the witch. Her capture took many lives and years to achieve. As she was sentenced to death, the dragon who raised her wouldn’t allow her only daughter to perish. She sacrifices herself for Ursula, giving her essence to the woman as she was to be burned at the stake. Ursula became the new Dragon Queen with this sacrifice and gained the rank of Archdemon. She made the towering mountains in the Wastelands her new home.Hundreds of years have passed since her rise to the top. While she is still mischievous, Ursula has softened over the years. She takes in battered women under the wing to provide them a better life. Some became her wives. Currently, she serves the Empress of Nalbathan Empire under a contract between the two of them.

Asroth

Born into luxury and riches, Asroth was a spoiled prince who craved more. Once his father passed away, he would inherit the throne where he could feed into his endless greed. The greedy king conquered the surrounding kingdoms in the Wastelands, destroying anyone who opposed him. Asroth continued to crave for more power, and in the end, his greed consumed him. Greed corrupting the man as it fulfill his deepest desires of gaining power, even at the cost of his humanity. He quickly rose through the ranks, defeating his opponents until there were none left. Joining the other Archdemons, Asroth had challenged them, but he was quickly put into his place by King. He vowed to get his revenge on King for humiliating him. To this day, he continues to lust for power and more until there was nothing left for him to take.
